The Sopranos: F.(beep) together…

by Edwin on Feb.16, 2009, under Television

See, it’s great. From HBO where the F-word is still allowed.
To be honest, I recently ordered Season 1 to 6 on DVD at Amazon at a price you can’t compete with if you wanted to download it with Bittorent. I guess that’s another advantage of living in England…

Cheers,

Edwin

History of the Internet

by Edwin on Feb.13, 2009, under Television

History of the Internet might be a bit too geeky for some.  At 6:50 they talk about the introduction of the TCP/IP protocol, and the introduction of the browser is apparently too recent to mention, but still I think it’s great.

Where were the days? I remember going to the uni library in Amsterdam and trying to find some info for a paper I had to write. Then, there was this computer terminal that allowed you to look at information that was in a database somewhere far away.

When I got home I tried to do connect to the Internet using my Bausch 2400Kb modem hooked up to my Olivetti PCS286. But shortly after that things got even more exciting with CompuServe (Do they still exist?), because they already had a GUI (graphical user interface).

I remember the Mosaic browser and then shortly after that Netscape…

Mmm, is there also a part 2?
